Main Function & Applications
A filter-paper strip soaked in the simulant is held against the article in a desiccator over water for 2 h at 37 °C, and any transfer of colour is graded on the DIN EN ISO 105-A03 grey scale. Ready to use and referenced to DIN 53160:2023-07, the current edition.

- Stationery (chewed pen barrels)
- Coloured cosmetic packaging and applicators

Good to know
Room-temperature stable, kept in an amber bottle because the standard asks for storage in the dark. What limits its shelf life is not microbiological but crystallographic: the composition is six inorganic salts with no carbon source, but calcium and hydrogen phosphate share the bottle. The scope excludes food-contact articles and articles that release colourant by design, such as wax crayons and lipsticks; a coloured container or applicator is still in scope.
Certificate of Analysis (CoA) & Traceability
